In 1995 the Soufrière Hills Volcano erupted on the island of Montserrat. This resulted in the evacuation of the island’s native frog, the mountain chicken, to European zoos to set up breeding facilities. A few years after the eruption of the volcano, all of the remaining frogs died because the island was contaminated with the chytridiomycosis fungus, a deadly disease for the mountain chicken. The documentary follows the mountain chicken’s journey back home and the first attempt of trying to introduce the frogs to their new environment.
